A few weeks ago, an amazing story fell in to our inbox about a couple who met because of TOMS. Not only did the two TOMS fans fall passionately in love with one another, they are now engaged to be married and plan for their entire bridal party will wear TOMS! See the Mother of the Groom’s story below…
When we were in Virginia on vacation this past summer (from our home in CA) our delightful, 22 year old bearded, tattooed web designer son and our family were eating burgers at little retro diner in Williamsburg.
We were approached by a (brave!) girl “My friend wanted me to give you her number” is what she told our son. Yes, this cute and stylish 20 year old thought our son was cute… but what clinched it was that he was wearing TOMS! Because he was fashionable AND socially conscious she could NOT let this opportunity pass by!
He called her. They dated cross-country (interrupted briefly by his 6 week trip to help orphans in Kenya). They are now planning their Virginia wedding and they want everyone in the wedding party (bride, groom, attendants, flower girls – parents???) to wear TOMS!

I met a guy through a church retreat who was wearing the same TOMS as me (ash gray). The first words I spoke to him were “sweet shoes.” here we are four months later dating and rarely go out in public in anything other than TOMS.
Yay! I go to school in Colonial Williamsburg and know exactly where you’re talking about! That is so awesome, so happy for them!

My fiance and I are wearing TOMS in our wedding on May 2nd. We’re pretty stoked.
That guy looks exactly like one of my friends will look like in ten years or so… Wow. Same hair, face, glasses… He’s a graphic designer as well. And he’s a TOMS wearer like myself. How strange! Cool story though.
I was wearing my first pair of TOMS when my guy and I were just getting to know each other. The fact that he even knew what they were (a rare thing where I live) and loved them, made me like him that much more!
My boyfriend and I have been wearing TOMS for about 2 years. We are a TOMS Couple and it’s all we wear. We even have matching Habitante ones. I have white, and he has black. True love, I tell yah. His bandmates all wear TOMS and their band supports TOMS at every show.

I don’t have a TOMS relationship story, I have a TOMS minion-army story. lol. I am a drama teacher and one night at rehearsal I was wearing a pair of my TOMS. One of my students pointed to my feet and exclaimed, “TOMS! I love TOMS!” I high-fived her and gave her a sticker (my way of rewarding my kids). At this particular rehearsal, a lot of kids had skipped or left early, so the 5 who were left were initiated into a secret TOMS club. Whenever I wear any of my TOMS (I have 7 pairs), if they point them out, they get a sticker AND a piece of candy! The other kids have been dying to know why my shoes are so important, so I’ve been passing along the website to them! By now all of my students recognize my shoes and get rewarded!
So cute! They are ADORABLE!! I met my hubby through a band. I moved from GA to TX to be with him and we couldn’t be happier! We finally met up with the band (Thrice) last October and were able to tell them our story.

My husband and I visited Toms Headquarters on our honeymoon just a few weeks ago. I don’t think the headquarters is really meant to be a visitor’s center, but we took pictures and were really excited. We both wear TOMS and think that it’s an awesome cause. We also found black botas to bring back as souvenirs for my sister-in-law. That made us heroes since the only color left of the botas on the site is the checkered ones!

For our two year anniversary, my boyfriend and I bought matching TOMS shoes (Black) as our gift to each other. We thought it was perfect. 2 years, 2 shoes, 2 pairs to a child in need.

My girlfriend Chloe knows this couple…she has nothing but nice things to say about them…she also bought me a pair of TOMS for Christmas but she never asked my size and they are way too small…We’ve been meaning to send them back and get the right size but haven’t found the time…maybe I’ll do that now…congrats you two love birds

I fell in love with TOMS as soon as I discovered them. I love to hunt down little local shops that sell them across the country. On one such journey my 1 year old son was with me. As I tried on a fantastic pair of green and cream TOMS, Temana (my son) found the Tiny TOMS. He brought them over to me and used his sign for shoes and started to fuss when I didn’t get it that he wanted to try them on. Needless to say, that day we left with two pairs of TOMS. One in green and cream and tiny camouflage ones for him. We love wearing our TOMS together and knowing that two little kids are running around somewhere in their own because we cared enough to purchase something socially responsible.

my boyfriend was really shy when we first met. So, the first thing he did to show me his feelings for me, was to buy us both our first pair of TOMS–’his and hers’ matching burlap!
I heard of TOMS about 2 years ago; been in love with the cause since. I met my girlfriend when we were kids (although she is a few years younger than me, lol.). We finally found each other again after 13 years! A couple months later, a bunch of texts later, iChats, emails, fb comments, tweets, and phone calls, we are now a happy couple. I told her about TOMS. She’s now hooked, since she has such a great passion for causes like these (1 of many things we have in common!). In April, when we first see each other in 13 years, we will customize one of our future pairs together as one of our first dates…
I bet they both have smelly feet together.
My fiance and I didn’t meet because of TOMS shoes, we actually met on a mission trip in Slovakia, but both love our TOMS shoes and wear them all the time. For our engagement photos, Matt and I both wore our TOMS shoes. Our photographer for the day was wearing hers too!! We went to the park and sadly walked through a huge field that was mud and our shoes got dirty. But, it made for a great story and some awesome pictures. We love our TOMS

My fiancee and I are getting married in May, and our entire wedding party will be wearing TOMS.
Her and I both found out about TOMS at a Style Your Sole event my university was hosting. From then on, we’ve been hooked. When planning our wedding, we wanted to do something that would benefit others and not just ourselves….this meets that requirement, and it spreads the 1-for-1 ideal on to the rest of our guests.

I met my to-be wife, Alida, in Budapest, Hungary when I was traveling in early January of 2009. I was only “passing through” Budapest for two days but I knew her older sister and that provided me a place to sleep. My girlfriend’s older sister invited Alida to dinner and a pub with us. I’ve been reminded many times of this: her eyes saw this boy wearing these thin “Sock Shoes” (zokni cipő), as she calls them, in the peak of the Hungarian winter, as he traveled Europe. She asked herself, “Who is this boy?”. Now I am living in Budapest, Hungary, alongside her, my love, and we’ll return to the States in July.
p.s. I surprised her with a pair of red Sock Shoes for Christmas.
I gave everyone in my family a gift card for Toms for Christmas. No one had worn Toms (except me). It was fun to give the gift cards. Everyone was surprised and pleased to receive them–something different and unexpected! They had fun getting on-line and choosing their shoes. No one got the same, even though most were not together when they ordered. Then they arrived! I received a phone call from each person thanking me for their Toms. Now we all love Toms! My son is getting married in March, and I am wearing my black glitter Toms to the wedding.
Great stories! I am a sophomore at Marquette University. I applied for a summer internship here at Toms for the summer of 2010 and am still crossing my fingers. While I have been waiting, to hear from them I met a great girl from Pittsburg here at school. Shortly after we started dating my birthday came up, and not expecting anything, I was blown away when she managed to order ship Toms in time for my birthday. Easily the best birthday gift I have ever recieved. She picked out black canvas for me, but moral of the story is… i picked a keeper.
my fiance and I are huge TOMS fans! he plans on having his groomsmen wear them at the wedding as the gift he gives them. Pairs for them and pairs for kids, which is perfect since I am a preschool teacher

TOMS led me to my husband! I am a TOMS alum. January of 2008, I moved from small-town Texas to Santa Monica, California to join the TOMS Spring Intern Class of 2008 (You can see our picture on the TOMS website under “Get Involved”. We’re the still shot standing next to the tin wall for the “Intern at TOMS HQ” video, and my husband is the hottie in the front, and I’m hidden by Eric’s peace sign-third from the end). While there, I met another intern who became one of my best friends, Dave. We worked our butts off as TOMS interns (me with Friends of TOMS and Dave exploring the Christian market), and continued to grow closer to each other. Towards the end of our (AMAZING) internship, we each knew we had something we wanted to keep growing, and decided that once the internship was over, we wanted to see where our relationship would go. I ended up getting hired on as Campus Programs Coordinator, while Dave moved up to NorCal to pursue his MBA. Several pairs of TOMS later (I have over 20 pairs in my closet, and Dave is close behind), a move to Sacramento, and a trip to Hawai’I gets us to December 31st, 2008. While in Oahu for a family reunion (Dave’s family is from Hawai’i), Dave asked if I wanted to go kayaking on the first sunny day of our trip. Of course I wanted to get out in the ocean and enjoy the sun!! Little did we know, the islands we were kayaking to were much farther than we had planned, but we made it nonetheless…about an hour later. We explored the island a bit, but Dave stopped me short of climbing over the rocks to see more of the island (I walked into a tree during our TOMS internship and gave myself a mild concussion…accident prone maybe?), and we found a quiet, private cove. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee and pulling a ziplock bag out of his zipped and Velcro-ed pocket. Inside was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen and he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes, and the planning began. Now, I’m married to the love of my life, and TOMS made it all possible! Thanks for hiring us both! I miss you all! (And that, my friends, is the really, really short version!!)

Not sure your going to come back and read this, but I thought I would give it a shot. Like I said, I applied and am waiting to hear back for the internship with TOMS for the summer of 2010. Do you happen to have any suggestions on increasing my chances? I know that is vaugue, but hopefully you have some advice. If not, congrats on the story, it was a good one…

TOMS didn’t really bring Seth and I together, but they have been a huge part in our relationship! A little over two years ago when we fist started dating Seth told me about these weird-looking shoes that gave a pair to a child in need. Curious, I looked them up and LOVED the whole story. 3 months later we bought TOMS as our first valentine gifts to each other
I kept up with the company and in June when I saw an add on the website for Campus Interns I just had to apply! During my application process I mentioned Seth’s band name and they ended up being sponsored by TOMS! We have had so much fun together promoting TOMS and my events and at their shows. I think it honestly brought us closer together. We are wearing TOMS in our wedding June 5, 2010.

My husband bought me a pair of TOMS for my birthday (what a guy, right!?) and we fell so in love with the shoes that we wore TOMS for our engagement pictures (see above and scroll through!). For gifts, we bought all the groomsmen TOMS and they wore them at the wedding, along with the groom. We’re definitely known as the “TOMS” couple.
