Yes, even TOMS Shoes has election fever. Two months ago we introduced our “election collection” and the the buyers (and voters) have caused many of the core sizes to sell out, but there seems to be a disproportionate amount of certain “styles” left. As of today, 43.95% of the shoes sold have been “Vote Democrat”, while “Vote Republican” represents 26.91%, and the “Split Decision” has 26.91%. TOMS Shoes does not donate any money from these sales to the respective parties, but it does give a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair sold. This is one policy that does not waiver.

For every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. Period. It’s that easy. It’s that direct. And that’s absolutely INCREDIBLE. You buying a pair of shoes is life-changing for someone. Think about that for a second. Something as simple, as necessary as buying a pair of shoes– can make a child’s life that much better, that much easier. Buying TOMS is making the decision to do something good.

Looking down at my TOMS everyday, I’m constantly reminded that we can all be doing something more to make the world a better place.

Volunteer. Recycle. Hold the door open for a stranger. Smile at everyone. Love a LOT. Wear TOMS. VOTE.

That being said, make sure you vote on November 4th!!! We cast our absentee ballots last week—our votes count big time in Florida. There’s no excuse for anyone of age not to vote. Voting means taking interest in your future! So, blues and reds, get out there on Tuesday, November 4th and make a choice about what happens next.

The Cooper Hewitt Design Awards started back in 2000 as a project of the White House Millennium Council as an opportunity for leading designers, educators, journalists, cultural figures, and corporate leaders to get together and celebrate great design, educate one another, and promote excellence.  Remember how cool it was when TOMS was recognized last year with the People’s Design Award?? Well, we got lucky this year, too: a fan nominated the TOMS Wrap Boot for the 2008 People’s Design Award, and you can vote for it today (or tomorrow, if you’d like. Anytime before October 21st, in fact!): Show some love for the Wrap Boot!
