It’s like we just can’t get enough of each other… when we say we’re a family, we mean it. That means working hard Monday through Friday together and taking lunch breaks just to hang out more. And spending time after work together, and sometimes weekends too. This year we held our first annual TOMS Family Thanksgiving dinner right here in our cozy “home” (OK, crammed in to the back corner of the office on picnic tables). Blackberries and iPhones were not welcome at the dinner table as we shared random fun facts about ourselves (like one of our employees was a Ski Champion in Iran! Whoa!), lots of good stories, and plenty of bad jokes.

We each brought food to share, which allowed for a diverse selection of the best Thanksgiving foods: turkey, biscuits, stuffing… and enchiladas and home-made guac and salsa (we’re in SoCal! c’mon!).

And after dinner was over and our tummies were full, we may or may not have turned up the audio system and been graced by the karaoke skills of Garett and Liza….

From all of us here at TOMS in Santa Monica, we wish you a wonderful, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving!

This was the first Thanksgiving for both Kelsey and me where we were without out our own families. Without a chance to go home for the holiday, we were graciously taken in by some amazing families in Minnesota. We were house sitters for Lenny and Donna for a few days taking care of their very affectionate cat, Tiger. We loved the feeling of having our own home or place to return to every night because our nomadic life on the road can be very tiring. On Thanksgiving Day we went to Grandma and Grandpa Buschow’s home for some delicious turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, creamed corn, cranberries, rolls, and fruit salad. After our main meal we played games with the cousins, Jake and Jessi, who are two absolutely goofy and fantastic teenagers. Around dinner time we brought out the leftovers for some nibbling as well as the traditional Thanksgiving favorite, pumpkin pie. It was a marvelous day spent with incredible people and Kelsey and I couldn’t be more thankful for the warm hospitality and love from Pam and Ryan Potts, Glen, Juli, Jake, and Jessi Bakken, and Charlotte and Sherman Buschow. Thank you all so much for welcoming us into your family!! We love you!

After Thanksgiving we spent the infamous Black Friday at the epitome of all shopping areas: The Mall of America. The mall was booming with crowds of people, but it didn’t stop Kelsey and me from riding the rollercoasters located in the center of the structure. Nor did the crowd stop us from walking around every level to check out all the stores. At the end of the day our legs were sore but we felt accomplished for surviving such a hectic atmosphere. The weekend was spent hanging out with the Bakken family curling up on a couch watching movies. It was a nice relaxing finish to our Thanksgiving break.

Now we’re in Iowa City, IA with Bekah, the sister of Leah (see blog of Leah below!) gearing up for our event tonight. It is weird to think that Kelsey and I only have five more events left for this whole tour before we head back to California for one last week. We’ve been on the road for over 60 days yet it is still hard to believe the experience is almost over. But what a joy it will be to return to Santa Monica and be with our TOMS family once again. A few things we’re looking forward to: Pinkberry, Yummy Cupcakes, late night vagabonding, EDPs, Third Street Promenade, the beach. Eleven more days… eleven more AWESOME days… See you soon Saaaaanta Monica!

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Team SE has been in Nashville, TN for about a week. We missed our families, but we still had a huge dinner. Tim enjoyed some succulent ham while Becky and I shared a juicy Tofurky. It was Becky’s first Thanksgiving that she’s had vegetarian choices. It felt really good to be able to cook in a real kitchen. I haven’t had this luxury since early August. I don’t think I will take that for granted anymore. It has been nice to experience each city’s restaurants though. I have indulged in many delicious vegan sweets.
Due to unexpected problems with the transmission, our van has been in the shop for the past 7 days. Unfortunately, we had to cancel a couple events. As bad as this is, at the same time, we’re really lucky to be broken down in Nashville. This house is where Tim was living when he was going to Belmont. We’re staying with 7 wonderful, welcoming college guys. We’ve had a great time.

Tim will be leaving the Vagabond tour on Dec 6th, so Becky and I are on our own for the last week. We were just looking at our schedule this morning. It is insane… We will be driving so many hours per day to get back to Santa Monica.

Dec 6th- 7 hours

Dec 7th- 7 hours

Dec 8th- 8 hours

Dec 9th- 10 hours

Dec 11th- 13 hours

Dec 12th 10 hours

It’s funny how much our schedule changed since we left TOMS HQ. We thought we had planned things pretty well, but things have come up since we’ve been on the road. It has been a wild ride.

We will be posting several more blogs soon. So keep checking back! In the mean time, look at our photo blogs and weekly videos.
