Ok. Not gonna lie. Team Ndubs has had a pretty chill week. We’ve only had a couple events so we’ve just kinda been taking it easy in Colorado. We had a sweet event at Coronado High in Colorado Springs, then we drove through the mountains and snow to get to Gunnison, CO which is probably one of the biggest cities in the US… if you judge the size of a city by the lack of people. But it was awesome! We stayed with incredible guys and ate delicious pancakes late into the night! From there it was off to Denver where we got to meet up with Coop, one of the famous (or infamous?) NW vagabonds from last semester. As we were touring the city we came across an Aveda hair institute. Now if you haven’t noticed from the pictures Ana’s hair had really started to get out of control.

Ana before her much needed haircut

She was refusing to cut it, so we all decided to get our hair cut together to convince her to do it. Here’s what we learned. When you go to a hair institute, don’t expect to get in and out quick. My haircut took 3 hours. Not 3 seconds. Not 3 minutes. 3. HOURS. I think I have bedsores from sitting in the chair so long. But what better way to spend a sunny Denver day than inside getting our haircut, right? haha. You can see the results in the picture above. I was going for the villain from No Country for Old Men look, apparently. Right now we’re in Wyoming doing a spur of the moment event with our new friend Spencer, and then it’ll be back to Colorado for a few days before hitting the road again! I’m guessing you’re tired of seeing pictures of us, even though we are three incredibly beautiful people, so here are some pictures of some of the fantastamazing shoes that have been decorated at some of our Style Your Sole parties.

Hmmm… That picture looks familiar. Oh, it should. It was on our blog just a few short weeks ago. Minus the super cool guy in the dolphin shirt (well, you can’t see the dolphin shirt, but trust me, he’s wearing it). So. Let’s recap the last week or so. We left Portland, filled with sadness, only to stumble upon Moscow, ID (pronounced Mos-Koe. Don’t mess up and call it Mos-cow, or you might catch a slap from one of the locals. Despite a shared affinity for potatoes, they don’t like to be confused with the Russians). Anyway, we were welcomed into Moscow with a wonderful home cooked dinner, followed by a home cooked breakfast the next morning, thanks to our RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING campus rep, Niki. We also discovered a bagel shop that has a bagel named the Mustache Ride.

This is it. Oh yeah. It was delicious.

After Moscow, we were planning to go to Wenatchee and then head to Bellingham, WA. However, in the span of about 30 minutes both of those events happened to fall through, leaving us a weekend with nothing to do, and nowhere to go. Hence the repeat of the picture above. We went back to hang out with our friend and campus rep extraordinaire, Mango, in Seattle! Though we only had a brief weekend there, it was packed with good times. We got to tell people about TOMS at a great concert featuring Ten out of Tenn (look ‘em up, they’re great!) and see former Vagabond Tim who is their tour manager. After that we got to see one of the coolest people alive, our old boss, Mikey P. I bum rushed him in Barnes & Noble and despite a series of violent rabbit punches and karate kicks from him, I escaped the encounter unscathed, and we were able to spend a few fun hours with him downtown, and then he and I got to cuddle up on the floor in Mango’s basement that night. Good times. So now we’re in Walla Walla, Washington where we just left the Walla Walla Wallamart, and we’re about to head to our event tonight at Walla Walla Wallaversity for some Walla Walla fun times. Then it’s off to Colorado! Peace out!

Mikey’s special extra layers cuddle outfit

Our new friends in Moscow. And yes, those are jazz hands.

I think this picture speaks for itself.

Guys. What a busy week. Team NW is back to long drives with short stops, and having a blast! We started off in Rocklin, CA at the home of Ana’s brother’s friend’s parent’s house (try to keep up with that one) because Ana’s brother’s friend’s sister, Laura (see picture above), decided to hook us up with an awesome SYS and documentary screening at the coffee shop where she used to work. We rolled in on her 18th birthday, and as a result got to partake in some delicious blackberry birthday pie! We also did an event at Whitney High School and then it was off to our boss, Hammer’s, alma mater, Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills. Then it happened. Remember the knife. You know, Carolyn’s knife. Well, Ana got a hold of it. I won’t go into details, but this is where we ended up.

After breaking Ana out, we were listening to Johnny Cash and back on our way to El Dorado Hills where we got to stay with Hammer’s parents.

(Hammer, it’s too late. We’ve seen the baby pictures. We’ve seen the awkward middle school pictures. We’ve seen the high school pictures. We’ve seen (and heard) everything we need to know. You can contact us for our list of demands. You know the number.)

From El Dorado Hills we headed to Spokane. It’s a pretty long drive so we stopped off in Rufus, OR, a bustling metropolis complete with a restaurant and 2 motels. However, despite all appearances of the town or lack thereof, our stay at the Hillview Motel in Rufus was nothing short of extraordinary. The place is owned by an ultra-friendly family who loved what TOMS is doing so much that they made us open up the van so they could buy a pair of shoes for their son, right there on the spot!!!

Team Ndubs with the new coolest kid in Rufus

After that, we completed our journey to Spokane where we got to hang out with Zach, our campus rep intern’s, crazy ridiculous brothers for a night.

Since then we’ve been staying with the Turner’s who were friend’s of Ana’s family and now are friends of all of us!

That’s Hunter Turner. My new best friend.

We’re at Whitworth today, and then it’s off to Portland. We’ll see ya there!

1 week down, 11 to go! Our first week was amazing! This week contained waaaaay too much awesomeness to fit in a blog. I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s see if I can sum up the week. 2 events at the University of Washington. Both of which were fantastic thanks to the hard work and overall awesomeness of Mango, our campus rep! We had an event at Seattle Pacific University that was super fun with great music. Thanks, Natalie! And then we hooked up with online blog, Majority Mag, for a Sole Music party at Forza Coffee in Tacoma, thanks to Joe Hunich. Joe also… HOLY HOLE IN A DONUT! IT’S SNOWING!!!! RIGHT NOW! WHILE I TYPE THIS!

A.MAZ.ING!

ok back to the blog. What else happened this week? Oh yeah! Carolyn likes to make things. Apparently to make things she really wanted a knife for cutting things out. Why not scissors, you ask? so did Ana and I. Wouldn’t scissors be more practical than a knife? We asked that, too. We’ve yet to receive a satisfactory answer. Well, anyway. Carolyn got her knife! she’s loving it. Try not to judge.

We went to Mt. Rainier. We got about 3/4ths the way there only to find out that the road was seasonally closed. Luckily closed roads don’t stop Team Ndubs! We got there. See!

Don’t ask questions about how we got there

After seeing the mountain, we were starving, and so we stopped at a railroad car that had been turned into a restaurant. Pretty cool, huh? NO. NO. NO. Not cool at all. A chicken salad at this place was 18.99! Which was more expensive than the ribs! Also, it really seemed like we were in a horror movie. The railroad car was kinda in the middle of nowhere… woods all around… we were the only ones there. Our waitress didn’t seem fond of us, and she looked at us with a strange hunger in her eyes. We were lucky to make it out alive. Thank goodness Carolyn had that knife.

Site of almost our last meal… phew!

So, anyway we’re on the road and headed to San Francisco for the week. See you soon!

A successful week of events here at TOMS! With the long nights and many hours preparing for the TOMS pop-up store & weekend launch at the Abbot Kinney Festival, it was a demanding week of collaborative efforts from all staff and interns. A massive response from the public, with over 1,000 attendees this past weekend at the TOMS Abbot Kinney house! Regardless of the pop-up store being a major focus this past week, the marketing team still had their outside events to attend and oversee. Bringing four other interns with me, we spent half the day at Cosa Mesa’s Nordstrom at South Coast Plaza. With an ethusiastic staff in B.P. shoes, nearly every customer was given a pair of TOMS to try on, including the wrap boot! From young teens to parents, a wide range of people were around the TOMS Style Your Sole table having their newly purchased TOMS customized! Thanks to all the Cosa Mesa Nordstrom’s staff for being TOMS advocates and a great turn out of returning & newly-found TOMS fans in the South Coast Plaza area! Check out the pictures…
