HA! I’m back. I bet you thought that you were rid of me after last week. I bet you thought you had heard all about Team Ndubs plans for the future and you were never gonna hear from us again. Well, I’ve got news for you. We are like a recurring dream. You know, like the one wear you’re at the first day of school in just your underwear. Except, you should be much more excited about us! Imagine that instead of showing up at school in your underwear you showed up and you got to see the coolest people ever. We’re that kind of recurring dream. Anyway, last week was our last week of tour. But now we’re back in the office and reliving all the incredible memories that we had on tour. Every time we talk to someone in the office, the first question seems to be, “any good stories?” We have lots.

Like the time that Carolyn tried to get a sundae. She asked for hot fudge. The ice cream lady, looked at Carolyn as if she was crazy(which is a completely reasonable thing to do at times… this not being one of those times), and asked “do you want the hot fudge on top?” Carolyn, baffled, responded, “I can’t imagine eating it any other way.”
“But don’t you know it’ll make your ice cream melt?!” pleaded our sincerely concerned friend, “It’s HOT fudge.” Turns out hot fudge will make ice cream melt unless you do something completely ridiculous, like… I don’t know… Eat the ice cream in a timely manner? Just a thought. It worked for Carolyn… but it was truly a race against time.

I wish I could tell you all the stories, but you probably had to be there for most of them. In fact, you probably had to be there for that last one. But it’s alright.

So. This time it’s for real. This dream won’t be recurring anymore. Hopefully we’ll still see some of you from time to time. But this is the last time you’ll see us here. You know you’ll miss us. It’s ok. Don’t cry. You’re making me uncomfortable.

Peace

I can’t talk about what happened here.

*sigh* it’s our last week. We cannot believe it. We have been on the road for 11 weeks. It is craziness. Right now, I’m listening to Ana belt out that terrible Taylor Swift song about Romeo or whatever for the 743rd time, and honestly I’m gonna miss the mad rush to get my headphones in every time that song comes on the radio. As ridiculous as it is, I think I speak for all of Team Ndubs when I say that as much as we’re ready to be home with family and friends we’re still gonna miss life on the road. The endless drives, the overwhelming smell of manure when passing farms, the constant search for Chick fil A’s….

…and the soul-crushing disappointment when we find one only to realize they’re closed because it’s Sunday which we didn’t realize because days don’t mean anything anymore. We’ll miss being able to feel OK about not showering for days at a time… actually that was more the girls… and I won’t miss that part… We’ll miss seeing snow one day and 70 degrees the next. We’ll miss never knowing if we’re gonna be sleeping in a bed, on a couch, or on a floor. We’ll miss trips to Denny’s where they get every single one of our orders wrong. We’ll miss singing along to Celine, Disney, and the Beatles. We’ll miss Jill, our GPS, and her attempts to take us down dirt roads and taking us to banks and Walmarts that don’t actually exist. But most of all we’ll miss all of the amazing people we’ve met along the way. You guys are the ones that made this trip one of the coolest experiences of our lives.

Now we’ll soon be parting ways. Ana is planning to audition for the next season of American Idol; Carolyn has already nailed down a job selling knives on QVC from 2am-6am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and Justin is going to a position at the American Society of Sarcasm. It’s been real. It’s been good. Some would even say, it’s been real good.

This last week has been lots and lots of travel. Team USA has finally made it’s way back out west… and we’ve been welcomed with the requisite rain. I bailed on the girls for a few days and went back to Nashville to be in the wedding of one of my best friends. I got to wear a shimmering gold tuxedo. It was awesome.

The girls on the other hand, got to finish out the drive to California without me. From what they tell me it was fabulous. Stopping every hour for the bathroom. Manicures, pedicures, and divine secrets of traveling pants. But we’re reunited now so all that’s over. I’m crackin the whip. Which means… absolutely nothing. I’m outnumbered. We’re probably gonna watch The Devil Wears Prada and eat some Haagen Dazs. We’re in San Fran for a couple days and then we’re headed to Vegas!!! Peace out!

Look at all my friends. My middle school dreams of popularity are finally coming true

From there we headed to Columbia, and then from there it was off to St. Louis where we had one of the coolest experiences of our tour. We were able to attend The Rescue in conjunction with Invisible Children. If you don’t know about Invisible Children, you absolutely have to check it out! www.invisiblechildren.com Anyway, we basically met at a location and abducted ourselves to raise awareness about the children who are abducted to serve as soldiers in Uganda. We marched to the St. Louis Arch where we waited for a political figure or a celebrity to come rescue us. We were there for a while. Like almost 24 hours. But I think we had the world’s most compact outdoor slumber party while we waited for someone to come rescue us.

The beginnings of the slumber party

Check out the awesome pillowtop mattresses they brought in for us. They were made of brick.

I won’t lie though. We were a little confused. I mean, we just kind of assumed we could be the rescuers. We’re celebrities, right? We have videos on youtube! Like 9 of them! With literally tens upon tens of hits. Well, despite our obvious celebrity status, we didn’t quite count. (apparently they were looking for an “A-list” celebrity… we fall somewhere between the x-z range of celebrity status). Eventually we got rescued just in time to get to one of our most fun events yet at New Life Church. Check out the sweet shoes designed by the lead singer of one of the bands that played!

Anyway, in keeping up with our original name, Team Ndubs, we are now headed from Missouri to Fresno, California. It’s gonna be a long drive, but I’m sure with the three of us behind the wheel of our Vagavan we might make it. We’ll see ya soon!

What a great week we’ve had. We have literally been all over the place. Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Laramie (Wyoming), and Nashville. That’s right. Nashville, TN. Team Ndubs is now officially Team USA. We are taking over the country. When you travel that much, you are bound to have some pretty amazing learning experiences. In the picture at the top, we learned how difficult it is to pose like Blake does in the picture on our van. Speaking of Blake, we also learned an interesting tidbit about him while we were in Laramie, WY

Shocking, but apparently true

I think the most important thing that we learned though was how important it is for people to have shoes. Obviously we were all pretty passionate about this already but after our ODWS event at the University of Colorado we really get it. First off, this was no day without shoes for the faint of heart. It was about 40 degrees with rain and hail. Not only did we do a barefoot walk, but we also had our event outside. It was a little cold. So. We learned that not having shoes is kinda rough. We also learned what surfaces are the most and least fun to walk on without shoes. Here are the rankings in order from most fun to least fun…

1. Carpet

Carpet has a couple advantages. 1) It is soft and fuzzy. 2) It is generally located inside where it is not 40 degrees… and raining… and hailing.

2. Grass

Grass could have made a run at first place. It’s soft and springy and great to walk on, but it is generally located outsided. Where it is 40 degrees… and raining… and hailing.

3. Regular Cement

Regular cement isn’t all that bad. It’s cold and hard, but doesn’t really rough up the feet.

4. Cement with rocks added in for spite

Really?! I can’t think of any reason why this surfacing material should exist.

5. The lines running down the middle of the road

The lines running down the middle of the road are stuck in the middle cause they got mixed reviews. I really didn’t think they were that bad, but Ana hated this surface the most. I think it’s because she absorbed the brunt of the impact from the car.

6. Pine cones

These don’t feel good.

7. Rocks

Rocks hurt.

8. Broken glass

This didn’t end well.

Ok. Not gonna lie. Team Ndubs has had a pretty chill week. We’ve only had a couple events so we’ve just kinda been taking it easy in Colorado. We had a sweet event at Coronado High in Colorado Springs, then we drove through the mountains and snow to get to Gunnison, CO which is probably one of the biggest cities in the US… if you judge the size of a city by the lack of people. But it was awesome! We stayed with incredible guys and ate delicious pancakes late into the night! From there it was off to Denver where we got to meet up with Coop, one of the famous (or infamous?) NW vagabonds from last semester. As we were touring the city we came across an Aveda hair institute. Now if you haven’t noticed from the pictures Ana’s hair had really started to get out of control.

Ana before her much needed haircut

She was refusing to cut it, so we all decided to get our hair cut together to convince her to do it. Here’s what we learned. When you go to a hair institute, don’t expect to get in and out quick. My haircut took 3 hours. Not 3 seconds. Not 3 minutes. 3. HOURS. I think I have bedsores from sitting in the chair so long. But what better way to spend a sunny Denver day than inside getting our haircut, right? haha. You can see the results in the picture above. I was going for the villain from No Country for Old Men look, apparently. Right now we’re in Wyoming doing a spur of the moment event with our new friend Spencer, and then it’ll be back to Colorado for a few days before hitting the road again! I’m guessing you’re tired of seeing pictures of us, even though we are three incredibly beautiful people, so here are some pictures of some of the fantastamazing shoes that have been decorated at some of our Style Your Sole parties.

Hellooooo people of the interweb. Team Ndubs is in Colorado, AND LOVING IT! First, let’s talk about how we got here. After an awesometastic event with our wonderful campus rep Lura at Central Washington University we decided to go ahead and hit the road and head towards Colorado. At 11 o’clock. pm. Driving through the mountains in the night proved to be an exhilarating experience. If, that is, you are exhilarated by driving 30 mph in snow on a curvy mountain road while water is freezing when it hits your windshield. After escaping the snowstorm and driving several more hours through the night, Team Ndubs truly received a reward from on high. We were able to treat ourselves to a delectable meal fit for royalty.

Cinnamelts, hashbrowns, and southern style chicken biscuits under the watchful arches of Mr. Kroc

After consuming our exquisite morning repast, we were back on the road and headed to a stop at Arches National Park. We arrived in Moab, UT, got out of the van and discovered the nicest weather we’d experienced so far. 70 degrees and sunny. It was like being back in Santa Monica again. We decided to rest and hit up the arches in the morning. The next morning we woke to another lovely day. A different kind of lovely, really. A 50 degrees and rainy kind of lovely as a matter of fact. But we hadn’t come all this way to let some rain slow us down. We went and hiked around the arches anyway.

Ana and Carolyn temporarily escape the rain

I bumped into this rock and almost knocked it over. Luckily Ana was there to catch it and hold it up… with one hand.

Now we’re in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where we’ll be for the next few days (and we’ll be in the state for a couple weeks after that). We’re gonna get into some pretty intense rock climbing as seen in the picture at the top, but don’t worry, if anyone gets hurt we’ve got Dr. Quinn standing by ready to patch us up.

Hmmm… That picture looks familiar. Oh, it should. It was on our blog just a few short weeks ago. Minus the super cool guy in the dolphin shirt (well, you can’t see the dolphin shirt, but trust me, he’s wearing it). So. Let’s recap the last week or so. We left Portland, filled with sadness, only to stumble upon Moscow, ID (pronounced Mos-Koe. Don’t mess up and call it Mos-cow, or you might catch a slap from one of the locals. Despite a shared affinity for potatoes, they don’t like to be confused with the Russians). Anyway, we were welcomed into Moscow with a wonderful home cooked dinner, followed by a home cooked breakfast the next morning, thanks to our RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING campus rep, Niki. We also discovered a bagel shop that has a bagel named the Mustache Ride.

This is it. Oh yeah. It was delicious.

After Moscow, we were planning to go to Wenatchee and then head to Bellingham, WA. However, in the span of about 30 minutes both of those events happened to fall through, leaving us a weekend with nothing to do, and nowhere to go. Hence the repeat of the picture above. We went back to hang out with our friend and campus rep extraordinaire, Mango, in Seattle! Though we only had a brief weekend there, it was packed with good times. We got to tell people about TOMS at a great concert featuring Ten out of Tenn (look ‘em up, they’re great!) and see former Vagabond Tim who is their tour manager. After that we got to see one of the coolest people alive, our old boss, Mikey P. I bum rushed him in Barnes & Noble and despite a series of violent rabbit punches and karate kicks from him, I escaped the encounter unscathed, and we were able to spend a few fun hours with him downtown, and then he and I got to cuddle up on the floor in Mango’s basement that night. Good times. So now we’re in Walla Walla, Washington where we just left the Walla Walla Wallamart, and we’re about to head to our event tonight at Walla Walla Wallaversity for some Walla Walla fun times. Then it’s off to Colorado! Peace out!

Mikey’s special extra layers cuddle outfit

Our new friends in Moscow. And yes, those are jazz hands.

I think this picture speaks for itself.

Epic. That is the only word that could describe the experience of Team Ndubs in Oregon. We had some great events at University of Portland and Portland Community College. We stayed with Zach, Vagabond extraordinaire from Season 1 of the Vagabond tour. He took us all over town, showed us all the cool places, which in Portland is everywhere that you go. Honestly words cannot do justice to the experience we had in the wonderful city, and there isn’t enough room for all the pictures we took. But, here are some pictures from our last day in town. Our day of adventure.

We started the day with Sean at Lizard Lounge to pick up some stuff from an amazing event we had on Sunday.

We’re at the bottom of a giant waterfall. Multnomah Falls.

Now we’re at the top

We wanted a better view. And the chance to fall off of a steep drop-off.

Not only did we get our steep drop-off, but in true Lewis and Clark fashion, we discovered a new state. We chose to name it Washington, in honor of the capital of the US.

Zach and our new friend Claire climbed a rock wall. They made it look so easy that I tried, too.

Almost there!

FAIL. (it was harder than it looked)

We ate a hot dog that looked like Ana.

WHAT?!?!?!?! Is that a donut with BACON on top?!?! I thought you said you were in Portland, not heaven! I can see where you’d be confused, dear reader. What place on earth could be so marvelous as to have a donut with bacon on top? I don’t know. The same place that also serves a donut the size of your face!

After such a busy day, we were exhausted. However, after our many adventures we were worried that we might have made some enemies. In order to protect ourselves, we did this:

Oh yes, we did build a fort in the living room. It was comfortable, and roomy and slept 6. And kept us well protected through the night.

It is with heavy heart that we leave this beautiful city, but the remainder of our tour is calling us, so off we go. See ya soon!
