It’s like we just can’t get enough of each other… when we say we’re a family, we mean it. That means working hard Monday through Friday together and taking lunch breaks just to hang out more. And spending time after work together, and sometimes weekends too. This year we held our first annual TOMS Family Thanksgiving dinner right here in our cozy “home” (OK, crammed in to the back corner of the office on picnic tables). Blackberries and iPhones were not welcome at the dinner table as we shared random fun facts about ourselves (like one of our employees was a Ski Champion in Iran! Whoa!), lots of good stories, and plenty of bad jokes.

We each brought food to share, which allowed for a diverse selection of the best Thanksgiving foods: turkey, biscuits, stuffing… and enchiladas and home-made guac and salsa (we’re in SoCal! c’mon!).

And after dinner was over and our tummies were full, we may or may not have turned up the audio system and been graced by the karaoke skills of Garett and Liza….

From all of us here at TOMS in Santa Monica, we wish you a wonderful, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving!

After speaking at the Aspen Ideas Festival this past weekend, I headed over to Beaver Creek to soak in some quality family time. We’ve definitely taken advantage of the fresh air and sunshine, rock climbing and fly fishing. Looking forward to more downtime this week before jetting back to my TOMS family in LA!

Two months ago AT&T approached us wanting to feature TOMS in an ad campaign. We could not have been more excited and grateful, but to find out weeks later that the ad would premiere as part of the Masters telecast was truly an honor.

Golf has always held a very special place in my life. At the age of 12, my dad taught me the game, and some of the greatest days of my childhood were spent battling my brother Tyler and my Dad for dollar skins as the sun would set. Being golfers, I don’t have to tell you about the smell of freshly cut grass and the sense of possibility standing on that first tee. Celebrating good bounces, accepting bad ones, believing in the club you have chosen and committing to the shot are lessons golf has taught me that transcend all aspects of my life and business. And the greatest part… the 4 hours away from reality we experience after that first tee shot. I have always made it a priority to get away to a place where I can relax and have time to think. For much of my life, golf has provided that opportunity. In 2006, that same quest took me to Argentina where, for the first time, I was introduced to often overlooked inequities that lead to the idea for TOMS Shoes.

My hope is this is just the beginning. I envision a future where our One for One model is expanded through partnerships with other great companies and opportunities which allow TOMS to truly create a better tomorrow for our customers and the children we serve. Our debut on the Masters telecast will prove to be a landmark moment for our One for One movement and, without a doubt, a memory everyone at TOMS will cherish forever. Thank you ATT!

I want to dedicate this special weekend to those people with whom I have shared precious memories on the links over the years. To my mentors Carl Westcott and Jack Crosby, two men sharing an incredible love for golf and entrepreneurship. And to my longtime golfing buddies Joseph Robertson, Steven Patak, Jimmy Leach, Art Ryan and Andrew Palmer. To my mother Pam and sister Paige, who come along just enough to remind us it’s only a game. Finally, and most importantly, to my father Mike and brother Tyler, who are the greatest golfing partners a man could ask for. Each ball struck, bet won or lost and 20 foot putt made is a blessing we all share.

Hurray! Tia and I have made it back to her home town of Waco. For this week, I must share with you a moment that meant a great deal to me. You see, when I became passionate about TOMS shoes, I never thought it would lead me to doing the shim-sham with my niece Zaynah and my grandfather in our week three YouTube video. I had tears of joy while watching it for the first time. When I talked to my father about the video, he brought an interesting point to my attention.

My father was saying how amazing this video is because here is three generations of people having a good time and supporting TOMS. My tears of joy also reflected on how special this moment was with my grandfather. He is the only living grandparent I have left and he came all the way from Iran to attend my college graduation. Unfortunately he left back for Iran on Thursday. I’m sad because I don’t know when will be the next time that i will see him again. I learned before I started my Vagabond journey that I am the only member of our family that he got to see walk the stage. My father came to this country with a student visa and at the time, my grandfather didn’t have his papers together for a green card or visa to attend his graduation.

I am so happy that I got to spend a little bit of time with my family while i was in San Antonio. They are very important to me and I value each and every moment I have with them. Best part of all was my nieces reaction when she saw our vaga-van for the first time! Check out our week three video to get the full effect of what I’m talking about. I have to say, what I do as a Vagabond is a reflection of what my seven year old niece inspires me to do for the children who are in need of our amazing shoes! I’m glad she got to get a peek of my Vagabond experience because one day she too can make an attempt to be the change!

Now I get to go play with Tia’s awesome pug Gus-Gus! Yeah he pretty much rocks! That’s all for now.
