We know that TOMS has the most loyal and generous supporters around, and now we want to prove it to America! Help us win $50,000 for Friends of TOMS to go on more TOMS Shoe Drops and fight Podo.

We have until November 6th to show everyone how incredible TOMS supporters are and all it takes is a small sacrifice from each of you. Can you pass up a sandwich and a drink to help someone walk again? How about that movie on Friday night? All it takes is $10 to help us win America’s Giving Challenge, a Facebook Cause contest, which awards the nonprofit with the highest number of donations from now until the end of the contest on November 6th.

The total amount donated doesn’t matter! We just need to have more TOMS fans donate more often than supporters for other nonprofits in order to earn $50,000 for Friends of TOMS. Ten TOMS supporters giving $10 is better than one giving $100. And TOMS supporters are already so good at giving.  They do it every time they shop for new TOMS!

So please help us by donating the money you usually use for dessert , laundry (we won’t tell), or lose in the couch to help us fight disease and get more shoes to children in need.

Here is how the contest works. Go to the TOMS Facebook page to find the link to America’s Giving Challenge and donate.

Each day, the nonprofit with the highest number of donations wins $1000, and on November 6th, whichever non-profit has had the highest number of total unique donations wins $50,000. This money can help us help so many people in need of treatment for Podoconiosis and put shoes on the feet of so many children who do not have any, so please think about what a simple $10 donation can do.  You can give a small amount and still have a huge impact!

A Family Reunion is a time to reminisce, see old faces, tell good stories, and take a lot of photos. A TOMS + Trovata Family Reunion is a mix of those things, plus a killer DJ, awesome fashion, and really funky photo booths. When Trovata was approached to host a Fashion Night Out event on the west coast, John Whiteledge knew TOMS would be the perfect teammate. Together, our two brands pulled off a fun and festive Family Reunion-themed event that was just as square and quirky as he had envisioned. The crowd, a gathering of vendors, friends, family, TOMS and Trovata fans, and neighbors, was amped on the theme and came out in some really clever costumes. The music, provided by the only and only DJ Peytonious, added the perfect beat to get us movin’ and shakin’. The incredible drink sponsors, Nika Water, Function Drinks, Asahi Beer, and Veev, kept us hydrated and… sociable. The three photo booths were hilarious and perfect, thanks to our set designers Diana Sillero and Arianna from PureKitchen. Amazing local photographers (thank you Colin Young-Wolf, Nina Brav, Cale Glendening, and Morgan Jenkins!!) volunteered their time and produced the great shots you can see on the TOMS Facebook Page.

We promised a $1,000 TOMS and Trovata to the family with the best family portrait. You could tell by the giggles and belly laughs from the team reviewing the photos Friday morning that the competition was stiff, but eventually we got ourselves under control and chose a winner.

The contest, open to US residents 18+, requires entrants to submit an essay or video that expresses their desire to be part of the team that will travel to Durban in October. We are blown away at the plethora of amazing entries that keep rolling in!

To show our appreciation for the passion in these essays and videos, TOMS + Element are supporting mini-giveaways throughout the contest lifetime. Hilary, from Nashville, TN, captured us right from the first few sentences,

“When I think about responding to the question of why I would want to
be a part of a shoe drop I am challenged to express an answer that
illustrates my desire beyond the excitement of travel, interacting with
others, and the reward of experiencing the gift of helping someone. It is
undeniable that these motivations have been the starting place for many
adventures in my life. The desire to see the world from another perspective
and to strive to give what you are able is luckily not unique to me but I
believe a basic part of the human condition.”

I love TOMS because it is a daily reminder. It is easy to give to 5$ to a charity or some change in a box and walk away, never to remember the difference you can make. But with TOMS it’s different; they’re there every single morning, every single day. When I wake up and get ready for the day, I put on my TOMS shoes and I remember “Oh, yeah! I bought a pair of TOMS, and that means a kid got a pair of shoes. How cool!” And it makes me want to help out more.

And during the day people tell me “hey those are cool shoes!” and I get to tell them all about TOMS!

So for me, I love TOMS because they are constantly there…constantly reminding me of the little bit I have already done to help make a difference, and all that is left that I can still do yet.
