With the long nights and many hours preparing for the TOMS pop-up store & weekend launch at the Abbot Kinney Festival, it was a demanding week of collaborative efforts from all staff and interns. A massive response from the public, with over 1,000 attendees this past weekend at the TOMS Abbot Kinney house! Regardless of the pop-up store being a major focus this past week, the marketing team still had their outside events to attend and oversee. Bringing four other interns with me, we spent half the day at Cosa Mesa’s Nordstrom at South Coast Plaza. With an ethusiastic staff in B.P. shoes, nearly every customer was given a pair of TOMS to try on, including the wrap boot! From young teens to parents, a wide range of people were around the TOMS Style Your Sole table having their newly purchased TOMS customized! Thanks to all the Cosa Mesa Nordstrom’s staff for being TOMS advocates and a great turn out of returning & newly-found TOMS fans in the South Coast Plaza area! Check out the pictures…

September we brought out the men’s Stitch Out- a wider, more masculine alpargata for all those manly TOMS fans to kick around in. So what are we getting in to for October? A retail store. For one month only, TOMS Shoes will be opening a pop-up store on Abbot Kinney in Venice, CA. We’re kicking it off  this Saturday (Sept 27th) at 11am with an all day Style Your Sole Event and then after-party when the sun goes down. Definitely mark off your calendars for this one, its sure to be an incredible night in TOMS history.

But did you think we would stop the fun after just one weekend?

Every night for the next month we will have artists in the house customizing TOMS from 5-7pm, with occassional nights dedicated to teaching new art techniques; we will be putting up a gallery of pictures from famed LA nightlife photographer Cobra Snake; and you can stop by anytime and check out our documentary, For Tomorrow.

“take advantage of each day at TOMS, because these few months are going to go by so fast…”

One of my favorite things thus far, is being a part of “all staff” meetings where we find out exciting company news/events/meet new people. I love watching the team come together, from the Big Shoes to Sole(searching) Interns, we get to participate in the excitement of Giving. Knowing that a big event may be coming, such as the awesome Vagabond Tour or the Abbot Kinney Festival Pop-Up Store, will bring in new customers and in turn give thousands of shoes to children around the world makes my job, still, the greatest job I could ask for. The next months will be deeply cherished and be worked to the bone, knowing that my work ethic is a piece of what adds to the amount of bare feet covered.

With the vagabond US tour kicking off and the mass amounts of events and plannings in the marketing department, work is busy busy busy. and i love it. I think the freedom and ability to take control of most/all of the decisions has been a huge plus factor for my position as an intern. Being included & involved in meetings and conference calls has not only given me major learning experiences, but also allowed us to provide feedback and input in crucial moves within TOMS. With the Abbot Kinney Festival coming up I’m very stoked with the entire staff/intern effort to make a this a HUGE success.
