As we revved up for the Holiday season, Blake (founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS Shoes) proposed a huge goal: “Lets reach 30,000 pairs of shoes in 30 days, to allow us to GIVE 30,000 pairs of shoes to children in Ethiopia.” After he announced the news, we all scurried back to our desks with big eyes and busy hands, and started drafting ideas: We have to send a link to everyone we know, We’ll each change our e-mail signature and voice mail to promote 30k in 30 days,  We have to reach out to the most powerful people in our address books… The next weeks were spent preparing banners and share pages, Facebook Events and a stellar Holiday video, and finally the campaign launched on November 20th. The 30k in 30 days video, created by our friends at BORN Inc., was stamped on our homepage, our YouTube Channel, our Facebook Pages, and our blogs… the viral expansion began. In just over two weeks, the video had over 35,000 views. Its been embedded on countless blogs, video sites, and social media outlets: some our own efforts, others by fans and friends of TOMS. And we were seeing the results: the ShoeMeter on our homepage passed 9k… passed 15k… inched closer and closer to 30,000. We ran contests, tweeted, and changed our iChat icons to keep the momentum going, and now with 3 days left in the campaign, we are in sprint mode.
Seeing so many individuals come together towards one goal, is truly a blessing during the Holiday season. WE are making an impact. WE are creating the change we wish to see in the world. Your support thus far has been exceptional. You’ve blown us away, really. Now in these last few days of our campaign- lets make that final push. Post our link one last time, forward the video that friend of a friend, invite your sister’s boyfriend’s aunt to our Facebook Event… tell them that our meter is rising to 24k tonight, but that isn’t quite the finish line.
And lastly, THANK YOU for not only wanting to see change in this world, but for being part of the movement that is making it happen.
