What a great week we’ve had. We have literally been all over the place. Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Laramie (Wyoming), and Nashville. That’s right. Nashville, TN. Team Ndubs is now officially Team USA. We are taking over the country. When you travel that much, you are bound to have some pretty amazing learning experiences. In the picture at the top, we learned how difficult it is to pose like Blake does in the picture on our van. Speaking of Blake, we also learned an interesting tidbit about him while we were in Laramie, WY
Shocking, but apparently true
I think the most important thing that we learned though was how important it is for people to have shoes. Obviously we were all pretty passionate about this already but after our ODWS event at the University of Colorado we really get it. First off, this was no day without shoes for the faint of heart. It was about 40 degrees with rain and hail. Not only did we do a barefoot walk, but we also had our event outside. It was a little cold. So. We learned that not having shoes is kinda rough. We also learned what surfaces are the most and least fun to walk on without shoes. Here are the rankings in order from most fun to least fun…
1. Carpet
Carpet has a couple advantages. 1) It is soft and fuzzy. 2) It is generally located inside where it is not 40 degrees… and raining… and hailing.
2. Grass
Grass could have made a run at first place. It’s soft and springy and great to walk on, but it is generally located outsided. Where it is 40 degrees… and raining… and hailing.
3. Regular Cement
Regular cement isn’t all that bad. It’s cold and hard, but doesn’t really rough up the feet.
4. Cement with rocks added in for spite
Really?! I can’t think of any reason why this surfacing material should exist.
5. The lines running down the middle of the road
The lines running down the middle of the road are stuck in the middle cause they got mixed reviews. I really didn’t think they were that bad, but Ana hated this surface the most. I think it’s because she absorbed the brunt of the impact from the car.
6. Pine cones
These don’t feel good.
7. Rocks
Rocks hurt.
8. Broken glass
This didn’t end well.
