into the wild

March 23rd, 2009 by kelliSW

SO, starting yesterday, Team SW breaks free into the wild! And by wild I mean, OUT OF CALIFORNIA!!! We hit the open road in our van we still need to name. We are no longer be camping in “our parent’s backyard”. We were in Phoenix yesterday, and Tucson today.

Last week was super amazing. Our campus reps and their families are the greatest people there are! Our cool campus rep Lynn from Ramona High is also part of an Invisible Children club. She put in a super fast call to the SoCal IC roadies and they came to our event to meet us!! They are all pretty dang awesome and it was so neat to share out stories. We did a merch trade, shirts and documentaries, and some of them even bought TOMS! We took a bunch of crazy pictures in front of and on top of both of our vans, see below.

Friday we were in sunny San Diego. MIKEY P! We got to see Mikey P and we couldn’t have been happier about such events! There’s something really great about San Diego for me especially. It all comes full circle because it is here in sunny San Diego that I first laid my eyes on a none other than a pair of TOMS! I was strolling along in Mission Beach when I stumbled upon a bathing suit store with a TOMS display. That was the moment that the company leapt into my heart and where it’s stayed ever since. Now, I’m back on the same soil, as part of a team that is the face of TOMS! I’m overwhelmed with excitement for these moments.

Wario has yet to slow down his partying. Campus reps are really into him and he’s showing off his Tiny TOMS all over this tour. Keep your eyes peeled for Wario sightings, my mom has already asked for custody when this tour is over. I told her absolutely no way!

Highway Motorist Tip #4: Be aware that even though you are driving a huge monster van, No one is afraid of it. They will cut you off, slam on their breaks in front of you and not let you merge all day long.

Wario found a friend on the road, they were takin it easy!

Wario was hangin out with our best customer of the day! He bought 4 pairs of shoes!

Mission Viejo High School made signs!

Our great campus rep from FIDM San Diego, Jenna
