Escape Sports is a fresh TOMS retailer who swears by authenticity: they are actually in to all the sports for the gear that they sell. And since this photo is authentic, too (thats how they greet their customers every morning, right?), we’re amped to have them on board.

TOMS: How did you hear about TOMS?
Escape Sports: A friend living in L.A. came back to Saskatoon for a wedding this spring. We got talking about things and he brought up TOMS shoes and what a perfect fit they would be in Escape.

T: How long have we been carrying TOMS?
ES: About a month! We received our first order of the shoes in late March of 2009.

T: What shoe has been your best seller?
ES: It’s really too early to say, we’ve been selling out of a few things! The denim have been going extra well.

T: Do you get many customers who recognize the shoes?
ES: We sure do. Lots of people have seen the AT&T commercial, and the internet gets info out there pretty darn quickly.

T: What makes your store special? Why should people come and visit?
ES: A couple resons I guess. We’re a locally owned family buisness. A couple of brothers who cooked up the idea of offering Saskatoon a variety of sports and clothing options that were unheard of before we started up. Kiteboarding, slacklining, longboarding, hemp and bamboo clothing…..and now TOMS. Also, if we’re going to carry gear for a sport  we actually do the sport as a regular part of our lives. People like to get advice from people who actually do the stuff. And it’s heaps of fun! Lastly we’re always up for just shooting the breeze and talking with people about issues out there. Social justice, nuclear issues, living sustainability, politricks… We try to get people thinking and talking about these issues. I couldn’t care less whether they spend any money or not.
