how you will spend less and give more

December 9th, 2008 by admin

For the past week or so, we’ve been running a contest on our Facebook 30k in 30 days Event page. We asked you guys to tell us how you are sharing the message of “SPEND LESS GIVE MORE” this Holiday season, and the response was awesommmmme. Over 100 wall posts?! Perfect. It went so well, in fact, we’re going to run ANOTHER contest: Upload a Holiday pic of you or a friend in TOMS to our Facebook Page (not the Event Page), and by Friday you could be the proud owner of a brand new pair of TOMS.

Click to see our favorites, and check our FB Event Page to see who won a new TOMS t-shirt!

I’m from Louisiana, so year I’m making homemade Pralines with local pecans & cane sugar. Sure beats fighting the crowds at the mall!!

I run shuteyes.org, an awareness site centered around member driven content (moments of awarness). This month we are doing a feature called 25 days of responsible giving leading up to the holidays. Toms shoes 30k in 30 days is the 1st day because I love the cause so much. http://shuteyes.org/features/2008-25-days-of-christmas/

I’m buying books for school children in Uganda and writing letters to troops this year.

-and-

I just want to say that this is an awesome cause! I’ve had my burlap TOMS for almost two years now, and they are by far my favorite shoes – holes and all. I will most definitely be spreading the word about this challenge.

First, I bought my 2 month old nephew a TOMS’ “be the change” baby outfit and size 2 baby TOMS for Christmas. He’s gonna look like a stud when can fit into them!
In a few weeks I’m having people over to my place for coffee, donuts, and to sing bad Christmas carols and a few of us are going to perform some special arrangements of Christmas hymns. We’re also going to be talking about Advent Conspiracy (adventconspiracy.org) and TOMS 30k in 30 days is going to be the main cause we’re going to support as part of Advent Conspiracy. Be the change!

As a classroom teacher that sees all of the elementary school, I have a TOMS flag in my classroom. The students look to see which ones I am wearing each day. They love the silver sparkly ones and are always asking how many shoes I have given away to others. :) TOMS have become very popular.

To inform my friends, family and co-works about Toms I sent out an e-mail. In the e-mail I explained the basic concept of Toms, the reason I am a huge supporter of Toms and how they can help as well.

I also included a link to the page and video about the 30000 shoes! My friends and family have responded amazingly!! They all want to know more information about Toms!

It is encouraging to me, because I can see the news of Toms spreading across my to my friends friends and so much more. I hope to send out more e-mails in the near future.

I have also posted the Toms website on my facebook page and I have put up messages about Toms on my status for facebook.

I encourage everyone to spread the word!!!!

My date and I wore TOMS to a semi-formal date party last night — we got tons of compliments. Also, I just got another pair of TOMS for the 30K in 30 days. The “BE THE CHANGE” ones. I thought that was appropriate considering the cause. :)

I bought TOMS for all my family and friends for Christmas! My mom owns her own company and on the billing for this past month that goes out this weekend, we added the link for the TOMS 30k in 30 days video hoping to get the word out there and help many many kids!!! On the company’s website, we are going to add the TOMS video link as well. I want to help as many kids as possible and am hoping that this will help!
I ♥ TOMS!

TOMS is an organization that is really close to my heart. Shoes and helping children…who doesn’t love that?
Last year my boyfriend and I stumbled across the website and bought each other TOMS for Christmas. Ever since then, I’ve made a promise that if I want to buy a gift for someone, it must benefit the lives of others first. Getting away from the commercialism in the United States is difficult, but with the help of TOMS I know I’m not just buying into the world we live in.

They way I’m striving to help the 30k in 30 days started at my small youth group. I spread the world to 9 girls, who each have made the same promise I made. We love wearing our TOMS together in our community. We have also made several announcements when out Community meets each Sunday night, and I know that more and more people get inspired each day.

Good luck TOMS, this is a great thing to be doing.

我爱TOMS shoes.我要买多.你们是很好.太好了!

I LOVE TOMS shoes. One way i spread the word is that I always wear my White Canvas TOMS at Martial Arts clinics and tournments (they match great with my dobak!) and since they look a lot like the Chinese kung fu shoes, people always ask and complement about them so i tell the story.
In my speach class there is a “sales presentation” that we must give, and Toms Shoes will be the perfect topic.
And whether or not they like it my Family is getting Toms for christmas, because its not just my fam and friends that are getting TOMS, children i have never met will also be blessed with TOMS.
But the best way to “Spend less give more” is giving my voice and spending time talking with people about what TOMS is doing and how others can help.
谢谢.

the biggest way to spend less and give more is to give yourself, your time, your love and compassion for those who have less than what I personally have. Even if you don’t have physical money help educating more people about a cause like TOMS is often the most people can do. But if people do not hear about the cause they will never help.
This Season Give:
your heart
your voice
your passion
your compassion
your knowledge
your love
give YOU

A friend of mine was wearing TOMS at work and I immediately fell in love with not only the shoes, but the vision and message the TOMS company has. Reading the vision of TOMS shoes really made me realize how incredibly lucky and blessed we all are . . . just to own shoes. We are so lucky to have the simple things in life, the things we take for granted, just because we live with them every day. I think we all should learn that spending so much on yourself or your friends is not what matters during the holidays (or every day). What matters is your heart. To give with your heart, to love those you don’t even know, is what giving truly is.

Spend less.
Give more.

It makes for a beautiful world :)
