I got my pair of orange striped TOMS summer of 2007 while I was interning there. Having been wearing them relentlessly through the years, they were getting pretty worn. I had a HUGE crush on this guy that was in a few of my classes (I was new and had just transferred to another campus) and I really wanted to talk to him. Just as I had gotten my courage up to talk and maybe flirt a little with him- at this point we were walking and talking on our way back to the dorms- my left TOM ripped on the side, only slightly but still enough to make me trip over myself. Although I was sad about my TOMS (which I ended up sewing back together-you can never replace a classic!) the cute guy and I laughed about it all the way back. We have been dating since then and I owe it all to my TOMS. :)

My sweet, socially-conscious daughter left Texas for California last year to attend the University of San Diego. She has embraced her sorority's (Gamma Phi Beta) causes passionately, and declared Peace and Justice Studies her minor. More than anything, Maggie loves Tom's Shoes. She is your greatest ambassador and has turned our whole east coast family on to Tom's. Everyone who knows Maggie loves her. She has a big heart, is always happy, and her positive attitude is infectious and makes you feel glad you're alive. She wants to be a Tom's intern and has worked hard on her application (forthcoming). I'm sending you the highest recommendation for Maggie Plifka to become a Tom's intern, not because I'm her mom, but because I know she will add something valuable and wonderful to the humanitarian spirit that is Tom's Shoes. Sincerely, Debbie Plifka.
